Boca Raton continues to invest in recreation, green space and quality of life — and one of the city’s most anticipated new amenities is moving forward at North Park.

Plans for a new approximately 42,000-square-foot skate park and pump track are advancing at North Park, the massive redevelopment of the former Ocean Breeze Golf Course in the Boca Teeca area of East Boca Raton.

The North Park Skate Park was before the Boca Raton Planning & Zoning Board on September 3, 2026, as part of the city approval process for construction on the southern portion of the park. The Greater Boca Raton Beach & Park District previously approved the skate park design and has been moving the project through design, permitting and city approvals.

What Is Coming to North Park?

The planned skate park will be located in the southeast portion of North Park, near the new Boca Paddle complex and south of Jeffrey Street.

At approximately 42,000 square feet, the custom concrete facility is designed to be considerably larger and more modern than Boca Raton's existing Tim Huxhold Skate Park.

Plans call for a combination of:

• Street-style skating features

• Bowl and transition elements

• A pump track

• A snake run

• Areas designed for different ages and skill levels

• Landscaping, shade and buffering

• Lighting, visibility and security considerations

• Features accommodating skateboarders, skaters, cyclists and other riders

The design was developed following community workshops and input from local riders.

From the Old Boca Teeca Golf Course to North Park

For longtime Boca Raton residents, the location may be just as interesting as the skate park itself.

North Park is being developed on the site of the former Ocean Breeze Golf Course in Boca Teeca, which the Greater Boca Raton Beach & Park District purchased in 2018.

What was once an aging golf course is gradually being transformed into one of Boca Raton's most significant new recreational destinations.

And the skate park is only one piece of the transformation.

The approximately 70-acre east side of North Park officially broke ground on September 3, 2026. Plans for this portion of the park include more than five miles of walking and riding trails, a dog park, playground, exercise stations and more than 1,000 native trees.

The park is also becoming home to Boca Paddle, a major new pickleball and padel facility, while a Traffic Garden designed to teach children bicycle and road safety is already open.

A Major Upgrade for Boca Raton's Skate Community

The project is intended to eventually provide a modern alternative to the approximately 10,000-square-foot Tim Huxhold Skate Park at Memorial Park, which dates back to 1998.

According to the Greater Boca Raton Beach & Park District, the existing downtown location has significant space and infrastructure limitations, making a substantial expansion difficult.

North Park gives designers significantly more room to create a facility that can accommodate everyone from beginners learning their first tricks to experienced riders looking for more challenging terrain.

The project has also been planned with nearby Boca Teeca residents in mind, including consideration of landscaping, buffers, noise, accessibility and security.

North Park Could Become One of Boca Raton's Most Important Recreational Destinations

The bigger story here isn't simply a new skate park.

It's the transformation of a large piece of underutilized land into a recreational destination serving multiple generations.

Walking and biking trails. Pickleball. Padel. A playground. A dog park. A traffic garden. Green space. More than 1,000 new native trees. And now a major skate park and pump track progressing through the approval process.

For residents of Boca Raton, Boca Teeca and East Boca Raton, North Park represents another major investment in the lifestyle amenities that continue to make Boca Raton such a desirable place to live.

And from a real estate perspective, these projects matter.

Buyers aren't only comparing homes. They're comparing lifestyles, neighborhoods, parks, schools, recreation, walkability and access to amenities. Major public investments such as North Park can change the way buyers perceive an entire surrounding area.
