Pack the beach bag. Boca Raton and Delray Beach give you plenty of ways to spend a day by the water, and each beach has its own personality. For homebuyers, the nearby stretch of sand can be part of what makes a neighborhood feel right. Here's where to start, whether you're planning a full day out or a quick walk before brunch.
Boca Raton
Spanish River Park
Shade, picnic areas, nature trails and tunnels under A1A to the sand make this large oceanfront park a full-day option. Best for: families and anyone who wants room to spread out between beach time and a picnic.
Red Reef Park
The near-shore reef draws snorkelers when the water is calm. Gumbo Limbo Nature Center is right next door, making it another stop to consider with kids. Best for: snorkelers and nature lovers.
South Beach Park
Close to downtown Boca, with a boardwalk and an ocean-view pavilion. An easy place to put a little beach time on the calendar. Best for: sunrise walks and a quick stop before brunch.
Delray Beach
Delray Municipal Beach
The sand is steps from the east end of Atlantic Avenue, with lifeguards and a lively, walkable setting. Beach time, then lunch on the Ave. Best for: a beach-and-lunch day without moving the car.
Atlantic Dunes Park
South of Atlantic Avenue, this quieter spot has a boardwalk through natural dunes. Best for: a calmer beach day with a more natural feel.
Good to Know
Parking: Many beach parks charge for parking, and some have resident permits. If you live in Boca Raton, check the city’s beach permit program before planning your visits.
Lifeguards: Choose a spot near a staffed tower and check the flags before swimming.
Sea turtle season: From spring through fall, nesting areas are protected. Keep lights low and give the nests space.
